One for the Scrapbook

Scott and I keep an informal collection of anti-gay literature, mostly because we’re convinced that this stuff is on the fast track to extinction — and because we want something with which to amaze the grandkids. Here’s one that really revolted me — and from a so-called liberal, too (Via Steve Miller’s Culture Watch at Independent Gay Forum).

I thought I was a bigot, but it turned out I just had a sense of humor
Granting up front that I’m a callous asshole, I can’t quite see why this is supposed to be “anti-gay literature.”
Lighten up, Jason - on a slippery slope you don’t even need banana peels!
It’s no more anti gay than this one (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/horsey/viewbydate.asp?id=1317). While in poor taste, it’s not much different than the scores of Clinton blow job cartoons we suffered through during the previous administration.
The big deal isn’t the poor taste, but that a nominally “gay” film would have a big enough audience that the cartoon would make sense to the average person, and that society is comfortable enough about homosexuality that the cartoon would be printed.

I’m not sure. I look at this one and I think “not really that funny” but not particularly offensive, I look at the other one and I think “stupid, offensive and wrong”. The former equates a secret relationship with…. a ’secret’ relationship. The latter equates a same-sex relationship with bestiality (in spite of the three different ‘interpretations’ of it i’ve seen so far).
